Cities pose significant challenges for humanity, and by 2050, nearly 7 billion people are expected to reside in cities worldwide, straining services and infrastructure. Currently, cities already account for 70% of global carbon emissions. To address this, China has seen the rise of numerous Smart Cities, towns and districts, aiming to enhance livability, sustainability and productivity. Smart Cities integrate various technologies like 5G, AI, digital twins, AR and cloud computing into existing infrastructure. While Smart City projects hold immense investment appeal, it's crucial to recognise that their success relies on strong collaboration among individuals and effective public-private partnerships.
